Many may not quite clear on what kind of flooring that you are having at your home now or are these flooring polishable or not. Here we are giving some simple introduction of the flooring.
Marble Flooring- Can be Polished
Usually for a marble flooring, after polishing, it looks as one piece, no edge or gap. shining, the pattern on the stone will not repeated, it should be unique for the natural stone.
Terrazzo- Can be polished
Another type of stone flooring which can be polished and the pattern on top of the stone is different. it looks as one piece with no gaps between stone.
Wooden flooring
It can be categorized into two different type- Varnish-able and can not varnish
if you are having real wooden flooring, e.g. parquet, 2’x10′ wooden flooring or solid wood flooring, it can be polished.
Wooden Flooring
There are wood flooring which can only polish for 2 times (the whole life) which are engineering wood. What is engineering wood?
Engineered wood is produced with three to five layers of hardwood. Each layer is stacked in a cross-grain configuration and bonded together under heat and pressure. As a result, engineered wood flooring is less likely to be affected by changes in humidity and can be installed at all levels of the home.
How to identified is it engineering wood? knock on it if it is empty at the bottom, there are 50 % chances it is engineering wood. Then if it is easily scratch, then it has 80% as engineering wood. It come in different colour and pattern.
Laminate / SPC flooring- Cannot Polish/ Clean. Just Mop
Laminates are made up of layers-the top is a thin veneer, or a photographic layer that replicates the look of wood-bonded together to make a durable floor that is relatively easy to install, usually by ‘clicking’ sections together.
