Painting Tips

Easy painting solution – step by step painting

Painting is a vital part of home renovation. If you are looking forward to painting your home yourself, it may seem easier at first. But, painting involves more than just dipping the brush into the paint and stroke in your walls. It is best to hire a professional, but if you are doing it yourself, here are some simple guidelines laid out by expert painting service providers.

Maintain the proper order

When you are painting inside your home it is recommended to follow the order properly. At first paint the ceiling, then the walls, windows and finally the floor if you want. If you break the order, for example paint the ceiling after the walls, paint from ceiling will spill over your newly painted walls.

Preparing the surface

Before you start painting your walls make a thorough inspection of them. A proper inspection can make a total difference. To prepare your surface you can follow some rules like- if you find any uneven place, you can rub it off with an emery paper. You can also take out spots carefully without causing any harm to the walls. For timber or shiny surfaces, take off the sheen from the surface. Clean the walls with a clean damp cloth and let it dry properly. A proper cleaning can make a good painting better. So, this part is very crucial.

Painting the ceilings

Cut into the ceiling line when you are painting the ceiling. Start from the corner to check out the covered areas. Since you are doing the ceiling first it will act as a reference, so, try to do it more carefully. When painting walls, you can go to them later, so, set the ceiling to the optimum level.

Painting the walls and skirting

Similarly follow the walls, while painting, start with the cutting lines. Don’t overlap the ceilings and don’t spill anything on it. Wall is the vast surface but most visible and important part of painting. Make bold strokes continuously and while you change your positions overlap strokes. When you start painting the skirting, cover the edges. Start from the corner.

Painting windows and doors

While painting windows, at first do the inner side and then move to the outer part. When doing the doors, at first paint the molded surface, then panels, horizontal and vertical segments. Finally complete the edges. Cover the areas you don’t want to paint and spill any paint over like knobs, frames, hinges etc.

Conclusion

After you are done completely, make another thorough look. Put back all excess paints into the can, wash all brushes with warm soap water. If you have used oil based paints, try turpentine. Always use, personal protective equipment like safety goggles, hand gloves etc. while you are doing the painting. Painting your own place all by yourself can be fun. Following those rules can make it surely better.
